Pattern Review’s Sewing Bee round 2 – the Jordan jacket by Serendipity Studios

This is my entry to the second round of the Pattern Review’s Sewing Bee contest and, although the results won’t be published for a few days, I can safely say that this is where I get off! I’ll not be going any further with this project. That may sound a little defeatest but it’s not. In fact, compared with the other 46 or so entries, it would be a travesty if I went through at the expense of someone else! I shall try to explain…

#Stitchingsanta2017 – the gifts I sent!

I’m back! My last post was all about the #stitchingsanta gifts I received from the lovely Sewchet. You can read all about it here.  This post is all about what I sent off to Tracy from Mad About Bags.

Now I’ve followed Tracy on Instagram for some time Continue reading

#Stitchingsanta 2017 – The Reveal!

Happy Christmas everyone! I hope you are enjoying the holidays. They were much needed in our house! The holidays started much later than usual so it’s been a bit of a stress trying to get everything organised in time. However, Christmas has been and gone and I’m trying to get the house back in some state of normality!

This is the fourth #stitchingsanta I’ve participated in and the third that has been organised by Sewchet. This, to me, is the best internet challenge there is. Continue reading

#KB Pattern Swap

Hello everyone!

I’m very excited to be talking to you about my latest internet challenge. I’ve been following Siân from Kittenish Behaviour on YouTube for some time. I really love her style and wish I was brave enough to wear what she wears! When she said she was going to host an internet challenge my ears pricked up. She came up with the brilliant idea of the #KBPattern Swap. You can hear all about it here: Continue reading

#StitchingSanta Reveal 2016

I have been involved in the sewing (and knitting) world’s answer to Secret Santa since it was a thing three years ago. Each year it goes from strength to strength. It’s time to blog about the lovely items I got in my #StitchingSanta parcel 2016!

My lovely gifter was Sally from the Yorkshire Sewist who put together a lovely package for me. I was lucky to get three separate presents which meant I could spread out the opening throughout Christmas day. We’re not the type of family who rips presents open first thing in the morning. We like to torture Continue reading

Christmas gifts and my #stitchingsanta

You may (or may not) have noticed that I went quiet for a little while on my blog during October and November. This was because I was sewing some Christmas and birthday gifts and felt I wasn’t really in a position to share them all. The gifts have been received now so I can write about them…

First up…. I made some Christmas stockings for my friend and her family. Continue reading

#stitchingsanta 2015

Happy Christmas everyone!

For the second year running I signed up for #stitchingsanta, this time organised by Sheila from Sewchet. Thanks Sheila! It’s been fantastic – definitely sign me up for next year!

My own parcel arrived on Tuesday and one look at the sender’s postcode told me instantly who it was from! Thanks so much Thimberlina! Everything is wonderful! The parcel went straight under the tree ready for Christmas day. Continue reading

Simple Sews Sequin Sophia

I must confess that I completed this top some time ago but I’ve been having a right going-on trying to get half decent photos.  However, today it was sunny and warm (It’s December!!!) so I took the opportunity to get some location shots. Here I am on the Spa footbridge in Scarborough overlooking South Bay.

It still doesn’t show the top particularly well. This is one example of clothing that looks better in artificial light it turns out. Continue reading

#stitchingsanta and my trip to Harrogate

Hello! Thought I’d let you know that I’m still alive. It’s a little inexcusable that I haven’t posted for about two months but I can assure you I have been very busy, mostly with work. I’ve also been doing a fair amount of sewing but this has been for Christmas presents so have been unable to blog about them (for now). I have also jumped on the sequin bandwagon and have finished a Simple Sews Sophia top Continue reading
